This letter is written as most are, as a pressure release of steam from a boiler. I am frustrated and concerned about the stagnation of our federal government to be able to act to solve the problems so badly needing solutions. It seems the only thing they do is sit and argue without reaching any decisions. The primary example is health care.
My family and I have owned property in Canada since the ’90s. We visit often and know and associate with many Canadian citizens. I have heard many U.S. citizens say that Canadians dislike their health care system. On our last visit by train and bus to experience the aura of the Olympic Games my wife and I made a point of discussing this subject with many Canadians we happened to meet. One fellow even initiated the conversation with us. Their opinions were emphatic and similar. They think the U.S. health care system is crazy. They are amused that U.S. citizens can’t seem to agree on developing a health care system that provides health care for everyone. Their opinion is that the only people who do not like their health care program are the very rich. The Canadians we talked to who were working individuals making a living to support their families love their health care system and can’t imagine why United States doesn’t have the same.
