Over the March 3-7 spring break, all of the South Kitsap sports teams that competed were victorious in their individual contests.
DANCE:
The South Kitsap High School dance team placed third in Large Dance/Pom and fourth in Jazz at the USA Dance Nationals in Long Beach, Calif. Three dancers also made it to the top 10 in Drill Down out of hundreds of participants.
BASEBALL:
South Kitsap’s varsity squad defeated Newport 2-1 on March 8. Dusty Garcia (1IP, 2H,1R,1K), Jerrit Chenier (W,5IP,3H,0R,6K) and Spencer Dahlke (S,1IP,0H,0R,1K) all pitched for the Wolves in the win. The Wolves’ offense was led by Nate Wotzka (2-3,RBI), Alex Garcia (2-4,R), Jordan Duenas (1-2), Drew Worden (1-3,R), Jayden Low (1-3) and Jerrit Chenier (1-1).
The JV squad also defeated Newport 4-2.
On March 10, the varsity team defeated Graham Kapowsin 13-8. Jayden Low and Spencer Dahlke served as pitchers for the Wolves. Dahlke earned the win and only gave up one run in four innings of work.
Nathanial Rowan was 2-4 with four RBIs. Jerrit Chenier was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI. Jordan Duenas and Dusty Garica each had two hits. Nate Wotzka and Duenas each had two RBI’s.
C Team Baseball results:

BOYS LACROSSE:
SK boys lacrosse team beat North Kitsap 9-7 over the break. The Wolves opened up the match with a 5-0 lead. A couple of long penalties allowed the Vikings to come back with a 4-0 run. However, the Wolves never trailed in the game. Cayden Robb, George Taala and Ethan Vandenbergh each scored two goals.
Freshman goalie Ashton Scott gained his first win of the season with 19 saves on 27 shots. With this win, Scott is one of the top five goalies in the state in save percentage.
FASTPITCH SOFTBALL:
South Kitsap’s varsity team defeated Olympia 7-4.
Pitching duties were shared by Kindra Hawkinson and Statia Cermak, who picked up the win. Defensively, the Wolves made several big plays, which included Sophia Canton turning a double play, and Jordynn Lawrence, Angel Prewitt and Teanna Lathum making diving catches resulting in outs. Prewitt went 4-5, Jiselle Woodson went 2-3, with a triple and a double, and Lexie Gojkovich went 2-3 with a double.
South Kitsap’s JV softball team defeated Olympia 13-3.
BOYS SOCCER:
South Kitsap’s varsity team beat Rogers 2-1 on March 1.
All goals came toward the end of the second half. Rogers scored in the 67th minute to go up 1-0. Jacob Ostrowski scored on a header assisted by Grant Larson in the 74th minute to tie up the game. David Mansfield then scored on a free kick in added time to win it for the Wolves.
The Wolves played again a week later in a wind storm March 7 against Curtis. Grant Larson scored in the 25th minute, with an assist by Brian Yand. Curtis scored in the 40th minute to tie it on a penalty kick, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.
