Chuck Daniel — mariner, businessman, historian, volunteer and devoted husband, friend and guide dog trainer — was born in Bremerton on Dec. 29, 1941. He passed away on May 5, 2017. He was 75.

The only child of Nettie Mae (Wurster) and Worthy DeWitt Daniel, he spent boyhood days on Oyster Bay. He married Roberta (Bunny) Kunto in 1965 after he graduated from the University of Puget Sound. Later, as a commissioned U.S. Navy officer, he was in oceanographic research. His life was purpose-driven as he adjusted the sails during his 75 years.

A donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind at P.O. Box 151200, San Rafael, CA. 94915-1200 would honor his memory. Memorial scheduled for 1 p.m. June 24 at Tracyton United Methodist Church, 5153 Naomi Ave., Bremerton, WA. 98311.
