PORT ORCHARD — Science on Wheels from Pacific Science Center is to visit two Port Orchard schools in the next two weeks.
The program will bring some of the organization’s visual exhibits across Puget Sound to South Kitsap, which will allow students to engage in hands-on learning in subjects such as physics, space and geology.
A typical van visit to a school includes a 30-minute opening assembly, 30 interactive exhibits set up in the library or gym, and five to 15 individual classroom visits by Pacific Science Center teachers. According to Delaney Berreth of the Science Center, the current program offers seven subject areas, six designed for elementary schools and one for secondary schools.
Science on Wheels will visit John Sedgwick Junior High on June 7-9. And on June 13, the exhibition will come to Orchard Heights Elementary on June 13.
