Janice Z. Fairbanks, 103, of Port Orchard, passed away on July 15, 2017 in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was born on Feb. 10, 1914 in Drake, North Dakota to Joseph and Marion Zuber. Janice was a graduate of Cogswell High School in Cogswell, North Dakota and went on to attend registered nurse training in Moorhead, Minnesota. She married Elmer Fairbanks on May 8, 1937. Janice worked as a nurse for 69 years and was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and enjoyed gardening and knitting. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her son, Gregory (Shirley) Fairbanks of Port Orchard; brother, David (Joyce) Zuber of Centralia; grandchildren, Samuel (Annette), Gregory (Celia), Teresa (Curtis) all of Port Orchard; 11 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; special friends Ken (Anita) Fine of Hydesville, California.
Viewing will be held from 10 am to3 pm on July 26 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 5303 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA 98312. A viewing will be at 12 pm followed by a rosary at 1:00pm on July 27 with a funeral mass to follow at 1:30pm at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 1150 Mitchell Ave SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
