SOUTH KITSAP – Three Bremerton motorists were involved in a four-vehicle crash on State Route 16 south of Port Orchard March 21. One of the Bremerton drivers was injured and transported to Harrison Medical Center.
The incident began after a 26-year-old Bremerton man and a 76-year-old Bremerton woman had parked their two cars along the right shoulder of eastbound SR16 around 9:18 a.m.
At that time, a 74-year-old Bonney Lake man was driving his 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck east on the highway in one of the lanes. With him was a 68-year-old passenger from Kent.
In the adjacent lane, a 64-year-old Bremerton man was also traveling east in his 1997 Subaru Legacy.
The Bonney Lake man allegedly made and unsafe lane change and his truck struck the Subaru, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The truck then veered off to the right shoulder and crashed into the two vehicles that were parked on the shoulder.
The 76-year-old Bremerton woman was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital. Her 2005 Buick Les Sabre was totaled.
All five people involved were wearing their seat belts. Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck was charged with making an unsafe lane change.
