SUQUAMISH — More than 450 people attended Kitsap Humane Society’s 24th annual Animal Krackers Sept. 23 at Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, raising more than $370,000 to support KHS’s work.
The event was sponsored by Peninsula Subaru.
The event kicked off at 5 p.m. as guests gathered outside the main ballroom to bid on the silent auction items sponsored by Kitsap Credit Union. The items included several vacation packages, featuring golf, fishing, and entertainment. Guests were also able to bid on artwork, handmade quilts, and custom jewelry. The silent auction raised more than $14,000.
The evening progressed with dinner and the live auction. Live auction items included a custom ring-making experience, naming rights to the KHS Cattery, and vacation packages including a trip to Whistler, a 12-day Holland America Cruise, a week in Los Cabos, a wine and dine Herb Farm package, an RV road trip, and a stay in a Lake Tahoe cabin. The live auction raised more than $90,000.
New this year, KHS held its first Dessert Dash, sponsored by Tara Scouten with John L. Scott Real Estate, and Robin Callahan Designs. The Dessert Dash allowed all the tables to bid on unique desserts and race to the table for top pick. The Dessert Dash raised $30,000.
