POULSBO — Rain, and a lot of it, is expected to soak the region beginning late Oct. 16 or early Oct. 17, bringing a risk of flooding in lowland areas.

“Drainage is likely to be poor due to falling leaves blocking drains,” the National Weather Service reported Oct. 16. “The most likely locations to see some flooding are low spots on the roadways and underpasses.”

The weather service reported that the threat of river flooding has decreased, and that “it appears that only the Skokomish River in Mason County has any threat of flooding, and the threat there is low.”

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain late Oct. 16, with southwest wind at 10 to 16 mph. Rain is likely in the morning, with south wind becoming light and variable. Up to a quarter-inch of new precipitation is “possible,” the weather service reported.

Rain is expected Oct. 18 and 19, with showers on Oct. 20 and showers continuing through the weekend.
