PORT ORCHARD — With the general election-day deadline of Nov. 7 drawing near, South Kitsap residents should either have filled out and mailed in their election ballots. If it’s still on the kitchen counter awaiting attention, there are just a few days left to complete that civic duty.
Statistics from Kitsap County Elections Division indicate most haven’t. As of Oct. 23, only 5,215 ballots from just 3.18 percent of Kitsap County’s eligible voters have been returned. But that number will rapidly grow over the weekend before Election Day.
Voters who haven’t gotten around to completing the task have a number of options in the county:
1) By mail. You can mark their ballot, slip it in the supplied protective sleeve and envelope, add a first-class stamp and toss it in the mail; 2) When you’re out and about, the ballot envelope can be dropped off at 19 countywide ballot drop stations.
2) There are 17 ballot drops located throughout Kitsap County, and more in the works. Ballot drops provide a safe secure way for voters to deposit their ballots, according to the county’s Election Division. No postage is required. Ballot drop boxes also meet accessibility requirements for voters with disabilities.
