CENTRAL KITSAP — Eric Greene and Bruce Richards are on track to win their election races for Central Kitsap School District board of commissioners.

Richards ran unopposed for District 1, and received 6,129 votes as of Wednesday morning, or 99.2 percent. Write-in cadidates received 51 votes, for a total of 0.8 percent.

Greene ran against Jason Skifstad for the District 5 seat. Greene received 4,488 votes, or 63.1 percent; Skifstad received 2,600 votes, or 36.6 percent. Write-in cadidates received a total of 24 votes, or 0.3 percent.

“Obviously, I’m pretty excited,” Greene said, “and I’m looking forward to four more years making the district the best it can be. The district is committeed to … providing the best education to our students, and I’m going to work with the rest of the board to ensure that we do just that.”

Skifstad congratulated Green on his victory.

“I’m grateful for the thousands of people who voted for me in Central Kitsap,” Skifstad said. “I’ve never run for public office before. I think it’s difficult for any candidate who questions the monopoly of educational unions in the state of Washington, but I think those are questions that need to be asked.”
