PORT ORCHARD — Two individuals were jailed after Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives linked their alleged involvement in an assault and armed robbery Jan. 17 in the Manchester area of South Kitsap. They were charged Jan. 19 in Kitsap County Superior Court.
The suspects — a 22-year-old Port Orchard male and a 19-year-old East Bremerton female — were booked into Kitsap County Jail.
At 6:18 p.m. on Jan. 17, sheriff’s patrol deputies and a South Kitsap Fire and Rescue medic unit responded to a 911 call at the 6900 block of East Dakota Street in South Kitsap about a gunshot injury. When deputies arrived at 6:30 p.m., they found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper arm and a grazing head wound.
The relationship between the victim and the two suspects is still being investigated, said Sheriff’s Dep. Scott Wilson. He said the victim reported that all three were inside a house on East Dakota Street belonging to a family member.
“The victim stated that he was sleeping and had awakened to find the 22-year-old male suspect hovering over him, armed with a rifle,” Wilson said in a sheriff’s office report. “The suspect fired the rifle, inflicting the gunshot wounds.”
According to the sheriff’s office report, the victim said he escaped by jumping out a second-floor window, and subsequently headed to a neighboring residence to seek assistance. He reported the male suspect drove away in (the victim’s) red 2017 Ford Mustang.
The victim was taken by medics to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for evaluation and treatment. Wilson said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
A 22-year-old man, Robert James Hackett, was arrested and booked on charges of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of first-degree attempted murder.
The woman, Alexandra Shawn Miranti, was charged with first-degree rendering criminal assistance. The pair also was charged with theft of a motor vehicle after they took off with the victim’s Mustang.
Sheriff’s detectives were on-scene at 6:50 p.m. to investigate the circumstances involving the incident. They later found the victim’s stolen Mustang at a residence in the 800 block of South Summit Avenue in Bremerton. Investigators located the suspects in an upper unit of a two-apartment building there.
Wilson said detectives made contact with the second-floor occupants using a patrol vehicle loudspeaker. Twelve minutes later in the pouring rain, four people — two males and two females — emerged from the apartment and were detained.
A 30-year-old male resident of the apartment was arrested by detectives and booked into jail on an outstanding arrest warrant. The male and female suspects were taken to jail and booked. The others at the apartment were questioned and released, Wilson said.

Earlier, detectives had located a .22-caliber rifle in the Mustang’s trunk, which was believed to be the weapon involved in the assault.
Police officers from Bremerton and Port Orchard, as well as troopers from the Washington State Patrol, assisted sheriff’s deputies in the investigation.
