SUQUAMISH –A Kingston woman was struck by a car at 11:25 p.m. Feb. 3 while she walked across Highway 305 near the Agate Pass Bridge.

Whether a charge is filed depends on the outcome of the investigation, Washington State Patrol reported. The pedestrian failed “to yield to vehicle traffic,” state patrol reported. Drugs or alcohol were involved.

According to state patrol, a black newer-model car driven by a Bainbridge Island man, was headed south on 305 approaching the Agate Pass Bridge. The pedestrian, identified as Shaina Marie Stewart, 23, was crossing from north shoulder toward the south shoulder but was not in a crosswalk or an intersection, and was struck by the car in the southbound lane.

Stewart was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, state patrol reported.
