PUYALLUP — South Kitsap took home second place at the SPSL 4A league championship on Feb. 3, finishing just 17 points behind Curtis.
Both teams will be major contenders for the 4A state title at the Tacoma Dome on Feb. 16-17.
Xavier Eaglin (106), Devin Gentz (120), Sebastian Robles (152), Nathan Marin (160) and Mason Eaglin (170) all won individual championships at their respective weight classes.
Two weight classes featured an all-South Kitsap final. Gentz had to defeat teammate Clayton Brooks in a 4-2 decision at 120, while Davonn Keyes took an injury forfeit to Marin at 160.
Xavier Eaglin continued his outstanding freshman season with a 9-1 major decision over Noah Cortez of Graham-Kapowsin.
His older brother Mason defeated Isaac Clark of Puyallup in a 3-0 decision. Sebastian Robles easily bested Adrian St. Germain of Curtis, 8-1.
Izaiah Davis finished in second place in the 195 division, falling in the finals to Xavier Whitson of Curtis in a 3-1 decision.
Ethan Fragoso and Logan Gleason took home third place in the 220 and 285 divisions respectively. Fragoso defeated Kurtis Alvardo of Emerald Ridge by fall in 48 seconds; Gleason beat Sumner freshman Ethan Barney by fall in 52 seconds.
