BREMERTON — If you hear increased levels of noise coming from Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton today, it’s because training exercises are underway in the area.
Naval Base Kitsap’s Harbor Security is conducting training exercises this afternoon, May 1, from noon to 4 p.m. The drills are being done in the vicinity of Sinclair Inlet, according to base officials.
“Local residents may see or hear training activity, including the use of blank ammunition from Navy security boats,” said Jake Chappelle, Naval Base Kitsap spokesman, in a news release.
“Mariners are advised to use caution by reducing speed and establishing a safe distance from the exercise area.”
Chappelle said the Navy routinely conducts security exercises “to ensure readiness and verify response procedures.”
