KITSAP COUNTY — Six Kitsap County soccer players, four from Klahowya and two from North Kitsap, were selected to the all-state teams by the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association.
The Eagles foursome included seniors Derek Carpenter and Darius Joe and juniors Drew Dickson and Kris Chapparo. Carpenter, Dickson and Joe spearheaded an offense that put up 71 goals in 20 games this season. Dickson led the team with ten goals and two assists, while Carpenter had four goals and 11 assists.
Joe, a second-team all-state pick, will move on to play at Pacific Lutheran University with his twin brother, Mason; Carpenter, who is committed Western Washington University, Dickson and Chapparo were all honorable mentions.
A mid-season change that moved Nate Blanchard into more of an attacking role gave the Vikings the offensive spark it needed to eventually qualify for the state playoffs before meeting their demise against Archbishop Murphy. Blanchard led North Kitsap with nine goals and was named a second-team all-state midfielder. Sophomore Wyatt Murphy, part of a group of up-and-coming players at North Kitsap, was named an honorable mention.
