PORT ORCHARD — Most of Kitsap County’s 167,000 registered voters should receive their primary ballots in the mail by this weekend, according to the county auditor’s office.

The ballots were mailed from Port Orchard on Wednesday, July 18.

Voters will have the opportunity to select from among 70 candidates in 19 races to decide who will move on to the November general election.

Kitsap County has 22 ballot drop boxes, available from Friday, July 20 to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Aug. 7. Dropbox locations are listed on the county elections website and in the local voters’ pamphlet distributed in the mail a few weeks ago.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 7. Ballots received by the Monday before Election Day will be included in the initial results on election night, Elections Manager David Frisk said.

Registered voters who do not receive a ballot by July 26 or who have a damaged or lost ballot should request a replacement by contacting the county elections office at auditor@co.kitsap.wa.us or by calling 360-337-7128.

Residents not currently registered in Washington have until 4:30 p.m. on July 30 to register in person at the county elections office. Members of the military have until 8 p.m. on Election Day to register.
