BREMERTON — A two-car crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of NW Holly Road and Lakeview Avenue NW near Wildcat Lake resulted in the death of one of the drivers, authorities said.

Emmett Jamison Harris, a 24-year-old Bremerton man, was pronounced deceased by emergency responders after his car collided with a pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man from Bremerton, who sustained minor injuries, said Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office in a release Thursday.

Investigators reported that Harris’s Honda Civic was traveling westbound on NW Holly Road from Seabeck Highway, while the truck was traveling eastbound on Holly. Upon reaching the “tee” intersection at Lakeview Avenue, the Honda Civic crossed the centerline, appearing to attempt a left turn onto Lakeview. The truck hit its brakes and swerved to avoid a collision, but the two vehicles hit head on, Wilson said.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue units were already nearby responding to a house fire and drove to the scene. Responders used the Jaws of Life to remove Harris, who was trapped. They performed lifesaving efforts, but he was pronounced dead by medics.

In the release, Wilson noted Harris was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Kitsap County Coroner concluded in an autopsy performed Thursday that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma injuries. It was classified as an accidental motor vehicle collision.

The driver of the truck was treated at the scene and released, Wilson said. No other vehicles or persons were involved in the accident.
