Polly Spencer, 68, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of July 20th, 2018. Polly was a 14 year resident of Poulsbo, WA.
Polly was born in Sanger, CA March 9, 1950 to George and Eula Miles. She attended Sanger Schools from K-12 grades. She then attended Humboldt State University and graduated with a MA in psychology in 1974. Following graduation, Polly married Stephen Ferguson, with whom she had two daughters. Polly began her career working as a school psychologist for the Payette School District. Later, the family moved to Boise where Polly then continued her career with the Boise School District. In 1988, Polly and her family moved to Wenatchee, where she worked as a counselor and psychologist for the Eastmont School District. After Polly’s daughters were grown, she relocated to Silverdale, where she met and fell in love with Rick Spencer. The two have made Poulsbo their home since 2004. Polly retired from the South Kitsap School District in 2013.
In her retired years, Polly loved to spend her time designing and creating jewelry—especially of sea glass found at the ocean. She often participated in trade shows to sell her masterpieces. Polly also spent her time kayaking, traveling, swimming, scrap booking, cooking, gardening, and golfing. In addition, Polly loved to watch her grandsons play baseball. She made a great cheering section!
Polly is survived by Rick Spencer, husband; her two daughters, Christine Ferguson of Olympia, Leigh Ann Strawn of East Wenatchee; and her two stepchildren, Chris Spencer of Bremerton, and Tiffany Spencer of Gig Harbor. Polly also has 4 grandchildren. Her family will always remember her as a fun-loving, compassionate, strong-willed, and generous wife, mother, and Nana.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Polly on Saturday, July 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Seabold United Methodist Church in Bainbridge, WA. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Polly’s life.
