Iras passed away peacefully at the age of 94 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born on May 29, 1924, the youngest daughter of Emily and Ira Frame of Port Angeles, WA. She graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1942, and married Roy Ryan on April 13, 1944. They moved to Poulsbo in 1946 and then moved to their home in Big Valley in 1947. The August housewarming picnic was celebrated with family and friends in their front yard. It was just the beginning of many memorable times that would be shared over the next 66 years. Iras started her career in banking in 1956 with First National Bank of Poulsbo. Iras retired in 1983 after a 27 year career. She loved her customers. After retirement, Iras and her family sold Noble Fir trees during Christmas that Roy had planted. She continued the tradition of pressing apples for juice from their orchard, smoking salmon, and also served as her son-in-law’s honorary wine assistant. She loved working in the yard and riding her John Deere lawn mower to keep the property looking as beautiful as Roy had always kept it. She loved watching sports on television and her daily favorite: The Price is Right! Her grandchildren were the center of her universe. They loved spending time with her because she was loving, kind and always there when they needed anything. She will also be remembered by them as a doting taxi driver before they learned to drive. Iras had great style and even in her last days she dressed for each day with a favorite necklace, earrings and lipstick. A special thank you to her hairdresser who always made her look and feel beautiful. Iras was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1992; and son Jeff in 2005; and by so many of her beloved family and lifelong friends (the “oldtimers” of Poulsbo). She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Henry) Huetter of Poulsbo; her daughter-in-law Seaschelle Ryan of Bremerton, and four grandchildren: Erika (Irvine, CA), Raquel (Bremerton, WA), Ryan (Mammoth Lakes, CA), and Conal (Washington, DC), and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the family and friends that visited Iras — she was so grateful for your time. We wish to thank the staff and friends at Liberty Shores for your superb care to our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and best friend. Iras was a long time member of First Lutheran Church, Poulsbo. The family will hold a private interment at First Lutheran to celebrate her life and place her next to her beloved husband.
