Once again, I’m surprised by the level of misinformation I’m hearing in the community about the proposed SKSD bond and capital levy.
A man who harassed school employees is leading the campaign against the measures, incoherently making things up and impugning the integrity of supporters.
Another opponent, a former school board member and strong supporter of previous efforts, has now decided to come out against the bond because he didn’t get re-elected.
Our taxes won’t go up. Our community needs this. It’s been 30 years. We have a unique opportunity to fund school construction without increasing our local taxes.
My kids won’t even attend the new high school, yet like many other community members, I have spent hundreds of hours educating and informing our community about what these measures do, how they work and why they’re important.
We do this because we all benefit from improving our schools. I once thought, ‘There must be a better option,’ like I’ve heard so many people say, but there simply isn’t. Anyone who has spent any time seriously looking at alternatives comes to the same conclusion — this is the best solution for our immediate and long-term needs.
Our community has come so close so many times. Two and a half years ago, we were 38 votes short … let’s not let that happen again. If you haven’t voted yet, vote today and remind your friends to do the same.
Every vote counts. Remember the 38 votes. Vote today.
