A Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to reports of meandering farm animals near Poulsbo on Monday morning.
Two large pigs were spotted on the roadway on the 20800 block of Stottlemeyer Road in North Kitsap around 9:17 a.m., police said. Multiple passersby reported the runaway livestock.
“The swine were not causing any damage, rather it appeared that they had ‘escaped’ from their owners’ property,” Kitsap Sheriff’s Office public information officer Scott Wilson wrote in an email.
A sheriff’s deputy and a Poulsbo police officer responded. They spotted the wayward beasts behind a house at the 3000 block of Lincoln Road NE.
“It turned out these two little piggies were not so little,” Wilson said. “Both are 700 pound hogs.”
The animals were reunited without further incident with their owners on Stottlemeyer Road, officials said. No police report was filed.
