The Edmonds-Kingston ferry route has returned to two-boat service, according to an update released at 3:04 p.m. by the Washington State Ferries.

The Hyak returned to service for the 3:10 p.m. crossing from Kingston to Edmonds. Unexpected maintenance issues saw the Hyak removed from service around 11 a.m. this morning, forcing the Walla Walla to handle the route alone.

An alert sent out by the ferries at 10:59 a.m. stated that a steering issue with the M/V Hyak and other vessel positioning issues were to blame for the delay of service.
