It didn’t take long for Kitsap County to welcome its first baby of the new year.

A healthy baby girl was born at 1:48 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale, a hospital spokesperson said – giving the family at least two reasons to celebrate next New Year’s.

The baby, yet to be named, is Kristin and Clay Gant’s first child. Kristin is a nurse at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.

Baby Girl Grant weighed 6 pounds and 11.6 ounces, and both baby and mother are doing well, the hospital reported.
