County to hold meeting on 5G wireless facilities

PORT ORCHARD — The Kitsap County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 regarding its update to the county code in response to a recent ruling by the Federal Communications Commission in support of advancement of 5G technology.

The county must update the code in order to account for expansion or construction of new wireless facilities for such technology, which serves wireless devices such as smartphones, tablets and EMS vehicles.

The meeting will take place in the commissioner’s chambers at the Kitsap County Administration Building, located at 619 Division Street in Port Orchard. An open house will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. to answer questions in a more informal manner before the proper hearing begins.
