TACOMA — Olympic, Klahowya and South Kitsap all finished the 2018-2019 bowling season among the top eight in the state in their respective classifications with the conclusion of the state bowling tournament Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at Narrows Plaza.
In the 4A tournament, South Kitsap ended the year in sixth place with 6,916 pins. Abigail Rogers and Abigail Kay finished just three pins apart with scores of 1,030 and 1,027 over six full games, good for 15th and 16th respectively. Erin Alonzo took 25th with 995 pins and Shylene Tudela was 37th with 953.
The Wolves got off to a slow start in the baker games with 110, 141, 124 and 117 over the first four and followed with highs of 198 and 191 in the sixth and seventh games.
Klahowya finished one spot ahead of its league rival Olympic in the 1A/2A tournament. The Eagles finished sixth and the Trojans took seventh.
Olympic’s Madison Bonk was the top local bowler with a score of 1,016, which was good for eighth place overall in the tournament. Hannah Catt of Klahowya finished 17th with 908 and Bremerton’s lone qualifier, Meaghan Malone, took 36th with an 813.
Alex Lowery of Central Kitsap took 25th in the 3A tournament with 991 pins, and Jazmine Clewis finished 31st with 967.
