Bremerton Track and Field
Head coach: Daniel McInnis
Key athletes (boys): Von Mejia, Noah Johnson, Spencer Anderson, Cedric Curtis, Alpha Cooper, Adam Sanchez.
Key athletes (girls): Tyishea McWhorter, Lauryn Chandler, Nyaijah Johnson, Te’Caela Wilcher, Trisha Mae Mabini.
Outlook: The girls 4×100 team of Johnson, Wilcher, Chandler and McWhorter reached the summit last season, winning a 2A state championship. All four are back to defend their crown this year, and Chandler will also get a shot to defend her individual championship in the 100 hurdles. On the boys side, Von Mejia ran the 100 and 200 at districts and was part of the team’s state 4×400 relay team with Johnson, Anderson and Curtis. Anderson also just missed out on qualifying for state in the middle distances. Look for growth from Adam Sanchez as a thrower in the discus and shotput.
