Dr. Shannon Bailey of Ob Hospitalist Group at Harrison Medical Center-Silverdale was recently named secretary of the Washington State section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
ACOG is a professional association of physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology in the United States with a membership of approximately 58,000 obstetrician-gynecologists and women’s healthcare professionals. Bailey will serve two years in this capacity and eventually move up to president. She then will become the state legislative representative for ACOG.
Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) staffs hospitals all over the country with certified nurse midwives to provide obstetric care on a 24/7 basis, including nights and weekends. OBHG has 160 partner hospitals in the U.S., including many in Washington.
“I am honored and thrilled to be selected for Washington State ACOG secretary for the next two years,” Bailey said in a press release.
“This is the second year working with our legislative ACOG congressional leadership committee at both the state and national level to pass legislation to fund our state maternal mortality research. I am passionate about quality and safety and I feel that OBHG is incremental in reducing both maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality nationwide. I could not be prouder of the work of all providers at OBHG.”
