For the second time this year, the South Kitsap Skate Park has been tagged with graffiti.

The latest incident happened Nov. 28 or Nov. 29 when multiple portions of the skate park were tagged with spray paint.

South Kitsap Skate Park Association member Ian Wilhelm discovered the graffiti Sunday morning about 7:30 p.m. while he was driving past the skate park.

“I immediately turned around and went to the park,” Wilhelm said. “I called Leslie (Reynolds-Taylor) right away and told her we got tagged and that I was starting to clean it up.”

Reynolds-Taylor, SKSPA president, arrived at the park an hour later with an anti-graffiti cleanup kit and water. There are no water faucets near the skate park.

Wilhelm posted photographs of the graffiti tagging on the SKSPA Facebook page, hoping to get information on vandals who tagged the skate park. He also called 911 to report the incident.

Wilhelm, Reynold-Taylor and Mayor Tim Matthes also were on hand to help with the cleanup.

A concrete wall on the skate park had to be painted over, according to Reynolds-Taylor.

In August, vandals tagged the skate park with graffiti two months after it opened.

On June 13, three teens sprayed graffiti, including phrases and pictures on the memorial wall, playground, handicapped parking signs, picnic tables, walkway, garbage containers and a mural wall at Port Orchard Marina Park.

The teens were arrested by Port Orchard police.
