Frosty Fowler, well known radio and TV personality, passed away in his Poulsbo home on April 12, 2019. He was 96. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Susan, his children: Tobi Alin, Jeff Fowler, Lorie Thomas, Steve Wood, Sarah Streck, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Frosty was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma and raised in Tacoma, graduating from Stadium High School in 1940. His broadcast career began at Washington State University, but during WWII he left to serve as a waist gunner on B17’s. After the war, he graduated and began a career that spanned over 60 years; starting in Spokane at KFIO as a DJ and ending in 2001 at KGNW as a Talk Show Host.

Adventures filled Frosty’s life. When the Seattle World’s Fair began, KING Radio & TV moved Frosty’s Morning Man Venue from The Ape Cage on Aurora to the Top of the Needle. During the “big” Earthquake in 1965, he never lost airtime and kept a calm voice.

At KING, he was dubbed Fearless as he would broadcast live while doing crazy stunts, like climbing the Space Needle Spire. At times, he joined up with the King’s Men, to interrupt progress during Seafair Parades. He raced ostriches, hydroplanes and dinghies . He had his own TV show, Seattle Bandstand. He was Press Secretary for Scoop Jackson’s Presidential run and Promotion Director for Shoreline Savings. He interviewed many celebrities during his career but mostly loved capturing the everyday stories of those he met in his daily life.

His Christian faith was totally the center of his life. He loved the Lord and would share his faith with anyone willing to listen.

A private Military ceremony took place at Tahoma National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for July 16, 2019. In Frosty’s honor, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 245, P.O. Box 678, Poulsbo, WA 98370-0678 – designated for the Scholarship Fund or Veterans Memorial Park
