PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for Douglas James Hobart, 30, a Level 2 sex offender who is wanted on a warrant for failing to register his status.

Hobart is considered “somewhat notorious” for his multiple past failures to register, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.

The Washington State Department of Corrections has issued a no-bail felony warrant for his arrest for escape from community custody due to his continued failure to comply with the requirements of his release from prison.

Hobart was convicted of third-degree rape on Oct. 22, 2007, in Kitsap County Superior Court. This conviction required him to register as a sex offender in Washington state for 10 crime-free years without any disqualifying offenses. On June 9, 2008, he was released from prison as a Level 2 sex offender.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hobart had three disqualifying criminal convictions following his release. After he was released from prison following his last disqualifying offense on or about May 6, 2019, he was required to register as a sex offender in the state for 10 more years — until May 9, 2029 — without a criminal conviction.

As part of his requirement to stay out of prison, Hobart needed to inform the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office of any change of address. He registered a change of address with the sheriff’s office on July 24 to indicate he was homeless/transient. Under that change, he was required to check in with the sheriff’s office once per week and provide updates on his whereabouts for the previous seven days.

According to the sheriff’s office, he has not contacted the office since that date and is on the Department of Corrections’ escape status list and has two warrants out for his arrest.

Hobart is described as being a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo on his right arm that reads “Miannah.” He has used several name aliases in the past: Taisai Curry, Dougie Fresh, Aaron Usita and James Vincent.
