Summer has come to a close for North Kitsap School District students and teachers with the first day of school starting Sept. 4.
For students and families, there is still some time left to tackle that back to school shopping.
One of the first places students and families should look is the Back to School supply lists available at nkschools.org/for_families/back_to_school_information/school_supply_lists
Parents should note that individual teachers may provide additional supply lists.
High School students will only need the basic supplies of writing utensils, paper, backpacks. The teachers will provide other material-specific class needs.
A reminder to families of incoming sixth-graders that Poulsbo and Kingston Middle school have Web Orientation days on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Speaking of schedules, parents and students should can also find school bus schedules by visiting nkschools.org/departments/transportation/find_your_bus_stop.
Be sure to enter your full home address to locate your nearest bus stop. It’s also probably not a bad idea to look ahead at bus routes for the winter months, should the Farmers Almanac prove to correct regarding snow events in the Pacific Northwest.
The return to school also means the return of Friday night lights, with high school football kicking off.
The North Kitsap High School’s Vikings will be facing off against the Bainbridge High School’s Spartans at Bainbridge High Sept. 6. The Viking’s first home game will be Sept. 13 against the Kamiak High School Knights.
The Kingston Buccaneers will take on the Klahowya Eagles at Klahowya Secondary School Sept. 6. The Buccaneer’s first home game will be Sept. 12 against the Port Townsend High School Redhawks.
