Friday, Bremerton Police arrested the suspect involved in a hit and run collision Aug. 30 where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 1500 block of 5th Street in Bremerton.

According to a BPD press release, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on 5th Street, between Naval Avenue and Veneta Avenue, in the early morning of Aug. 30 and struck a 24-year-old male. After the collision, the suspect vehicle continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. The victim was momentarily unable to get up but eventually walked to his residence.

Medics were called and transported the victim to the hospital, BPD states. The victim is expected to survive but sustained serious injuries.

Police announced that investigators located the suspect vehicle Wednesday, Sept. 4, and obtained a search warrant on the vehicle. Investigators also identified and interviewed the suspect.

The 27-year-old male was booked into Kitsap County Jail for vehicular assault and hit-and-run with injury.
