No serious injuries were reported after a woman and her three children were struck by a minivan in the crosswalk at Naval Avenue and 11th Street. The 27-year-old, female, driver of the minivan has been arrested for DUI, and BPD officers are awaiting a search warrant for blood evidence.
The mother and three children were taken to Harrison Medical Center for evaluation, where they were reportedly all listed as being in “stable condition” according to a press release from the Bremerton Police Department. At the scene, Lt. Aaron Elton noted that all three children and the mother appeared to have only suffered minor abrasions and had been conscious, breathing and talking with responders.
According to the Bremerton Police Department, all of the children appeared to be 6 years of age or younger and at least one of the children was being pushed in a stroller when they were struck by the vehicle.
At approximately 1 p.m., the Bremerton Police Department tweeted out that the intersection of Naval Avenue and 11th Street has been reopened.
