In an update sent out at Tuesday at 2:05 p.m. district officials stated that they had received updates from law enforcement and have lifted a modified lockdown at Kingston High School, Kingston Middle School, Choice Academy and Richard Gordon Elementary. According to the update, students were dismissed at regular times and buses were set to run on a normal schedule.

According to Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesperson for the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, the lockdown was the result of threats made against a district school by an outside source. Wilson added that law enforcement were onsite during the lockdown.

Around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday North Kitsap School District officials announced that Kingston High School, Kingston Middle School, Choice Academy and Richard Gordon Elementary had been placed under a “modified lockdown” according to the district’s official Facebook page.

“Due to a credible concern in the area, Kingston High, [Kingston] Middle, Choice Academy and Gordon Elementary are in a modified lockdown,” the Facebook post, sent out at by NKSD at 11:40 a.m. reads. “This means that all external [doors] are locked, students and staff are inside the building, and learning continues. All staff and students are safe. We are currently working directly with law enforcement and will update all when we have more information to release.”
