POULSBO — The North Kitsap School Board has selected three finalists for the position of superintendent:
— Dr. David Gray, assistant superintendent of schools for teaching and learning at Battle Ground School District.
— Robert Kuehl, assistant superintendent of human resources at Tumwater School District.
— Patrice Page, superintendent of the Coupeville School District.
The new superintendent will succeed Dr. Richard Jones, who is leaving in June at the end of his three-year contract. Jones receives $140,000 a year. The district has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, a community school and a parent-assisted learning program. The district budget this year is $64 million.
It’s not known how much the new superintendent will be paid. According to a Tacoma News Tribune database, Gray currently earns $132,304, Kuehl earns $114,863, Page earns $118,811.
“We were impressed by the qualifications of the applicants and believe that we have three very strong candidates to choose from,” School Board President Kathleen Dassel said in a press release. “We are looking forward to introducing them to the community. The board wants to thank the wonderful work of the Superintendent Search Committee who made the process go so smoothly.”
Meetings will be scheduled March 5-7 so residents, students and staff may meet the finalists and provide input.

March 5-7: Finalists interviewed and by the school board, search committee and other stakeholders.
March 9-14: Site visit of finalists’ current employer.
March 19: Final selection announceed
July 1: Start date of new superintendent.
