World AIDS Day in Bremerton on Sunday

Event is set for 2-5 p.m. at Norm Dicks Government Center

Bremerton Mayor Greg Wheeler and state Sen. Emily Randall of the 26th Legislative District will be two of the speakers at a World AIDS Day remembrance and celebration event in Bremerton on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The Bremerton event is set for 2-5 p.m. at the Norm Dicks Government Center Chambers, 345 6th St.

In addition to Wheeler and Randall, Kitsap County Commissioner Rob Gelder and Dr. Bienvenido Yangco of the UW Medicine Madison Clinic will also speak at the event. Guests also will be invited to share their personal experiences, according to event sponsors, and a candle lighting and service will follow.

World AIDS Day was started in 1988 to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, as well as encourage support for people living with the disease and to celebrate those who lost their lives to the virulent epidemic.
