Travelers who use the SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge between the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas will need to plan ahead for possible delays.
During the nighttime hours of Wednesday, Dec. 11, and Thursday, Dec. 12, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) bridge maintenance crews will close the bridge to all vehicle traffic to make repairs to the bridge.
Closure schedule
Wednesday, Dec. 11, to the early morning hours of Thursday, Dec. 12
10 to 11 p.m. Wednesday
11:30 p.m. Wednesday to 12:30 a.m. Thursday
1 to 2 a.m. Thursday

During these work hours, crews will open the bridge to traffic for 30 minutes to ease congestion.
Crews could extend the length of the closures to traffic, depending on work progress, weather conditions, and tidal activity.
According to WSDOT the repairs are necessary to ensure the bridge can continue to operate, serving both vehicle and marine traffic, through the storm season. WSDOT has planned the repair work in two phases meaning there will be additional closures in the weeks ahead. Those dates will be announced as they are scheduled.
WSDOT is developing a plan for permanent repairs to occur, likely in summer 2020 and will announce those dates when they are scheduled.
