KINGSTON — White Horse Golf Club will play host to The Legends Tour, the official senior tour of the LPGA for a third consecutive year.
The Legends Tour announced Thursday that the Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup will take place May 27-30, 2020 and will include a pro-am tournament, an amateur team event and the day two-day, 36-hole Legends Cup event.
“It is an honor to welcome the Legends of the LPGA back to White Horse and our premier resort for the third consecutive year of the Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup,” said Irene Carper, chief operating officer of Port Madison Enterprises-Clearwater Casino Resort, in a press release announcing the event.
“These women are incredible golfers, but equally incredible people,” Carper added in the press release. “Our community and this area’s many golf fans love to watch them play and we are proud to host the Legends once again.”
Juli Inkster, a World Golf Hall-of-Famer and television analyst for Fox Sports, is the defending champion. She shot rounds of 65 and 66 last year to win the event at 15-under. The 2020 field will consist of 32 golfers and will also include four senior amateurs from the northwest region, including Karen Darrington of Boise, Idaho and Kim Carrington of Calgary, Alberta.
“Having the LPGA Legends play our course is truly special,” said Bruce Christy, general manager/head professional at White Horse Golf Club. “Our team takes great pride in preparing for this event and we look forward to having these LPGA Legends return in May. This is a beautiful property that seriously tests the terrific shot-making skills of these players and we can’t wait to see another exciting finish take place in 2020.”
The four-day event begins with the Kaiser Permanente Women’s Amateur team event on May 27. The two two-players teams with the low gross and net team score respectively will be allowed to play in the official pro-am tournament, which takes place on May 28.
The Legends Cup tournament rounds begin at 10 a.m. on both May 29 and May 30.
