Port Orchard City Council will look at approving a 1.4 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for non-union employees at its’ Sept. 10 meeting.
If approved, the pay rate would take effective Oct. 1. The COLA increase is based on the All Urban Consumers Index for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton area for the period of June 1012 to June 2013.
In 2009, the Finance Committee requested that wage-pay rates be addresses on an yearly basic for non-union employees.
The council will also consider approval of a social media policy because some city departments are interested in creating Facebook or Twitter accounts.
Under the proposed social media policy, department heads would have to submit an approval form. Also, all comments and content posted on a site would be considered public record and subject to public disclosure and the state’s Public Record Act.
The city would not be responsible for transmissions user receive from external websites, according to the proposed policy.
