PORT ORCHARD — Do you have a household item needing repair but are unsure how to tackle the project?

Residents are invited to bring their broken items to an upcoming Fix-It Fair taking place in Port Orchard from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Givens Community and Senior Center.

If you have an item you’d like to have a fix-it expert take a look at, you’ll need to register in advance so organizers will know about the broken items you plan to bring.

Fixers can repair two items at a time. If there’s time at the end of the event, organizers say, you can get two additional items repaired. Mendable clothing and textiles, lamps, small appliances, small electronics, furniture, jewelry, bicycles, toys and outdoor equipment are examples of items that fixers will be able to repair. But they must be only small items needing repair that can be easily carried in by one person. Do not bring items that are leaking, dangerous, contain gasoline or any other combustible fuel, or have a strong odor

Clothing textile items should be washed before being brought in, organizers say. If an item needs a specialized part, bring that part with you to the session. Repairs are not guaranteed.

Givens Community and Senior Center is at 1026 Sidney Ave. in Port Orchard.

On April 25, a Fix-It Fair will take place at Village Green Community Center in Kingston, 26159 Dulay Rd. NE. That session will also run from 1-4 p.m.
