Cyanobacteria warning lifted for Kitsap Lake

Warning had been in place since August 27

On Wednesday, the Kitsap Public Health District lifted the cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) warning for Kitsap Lake that was issued Aug. 27.

Residents who live near lakes and people visiting lakes are encouraged to watch for cyanobacteria blooms, according to a release from the Health District. Contact Kitsap Public Health at 360-728-2235 if you observe a bloom or notice any of the following conditions:

  • Large number of dead fish
  • Sudden or unexplained sickness or death of a pet that had contact with water
  • A person who had contact with the water experiencing skin rash, dizziness or weakness, respiratory allergy, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting
