A Port Orchard man was arrested for allegedly dealing drugs at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 19.
According to a statement of probable cause from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, the man Joel Christopher Brown, 39, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a firearm.
KCSO was dispatched to the casino at around 5:15 a.m. when casino security discovered a black leather pouch on the floor beside a slot machine. According to the report, security searched the bag and found black tar heroin and white crystalline substances packaged in individual baggies.
After reviewing surveillance footage, a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy and an officer with the Suquamish Police Department identified Brown sitting in the non-smoking section of the casino and placed him under arrest. The deputy read Brown his Miranda Rights, to which Brown requested a lawyer before answering any questions. According to court documents, Brown also informed the officer that he had a firearm in his pocket and that he was a convicted felon.
According to the report, after searching Brown’s person, they found 30.2 grams of methamphetamine, 2.7 grams of heroin and a .32 caliber handgun. There were four .32 caliber rounds in the gun, with one round chambered, Brown had additional rounds on his person as well as nearly $1,600 in cash.
According to documents, additional evidence was retrieved by casino staff at the scene, including five small plastic bags containing heroin and one bag containing methamphetamine.
Brown was booked into Kitsap County Jail with bail set at $200,000.
