Commercial and residential construction suspended for two weeks statewide

All construction, outside of emergency repairs, will have to cease for two weeks, the Department of Community Development announced Wednesday morning after receiving clarification from Gov. Jay Inslee.

The DCD will also cancel any inspections scheduled for the next two weeks, with the exception of those associated with emergency repairs.

“In general, commercial and residential construction is not authorized under the proclamation because construction is not considered to be an essential activity,” said Inslee in the clarification memo.

The earliest construction can resume is April 8, pending Inslee’s instructions regarding his “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” executive orders.

Non-field work is able to continue and the DCD can accept and review permit submittals online.
