The Kitsap Public Health District confirmed Monday that Kitsap County has seen its first death due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Officials said in a press release that the resident who died was an older adult who had tested positive for COVID-19 and also had underlying health conditions.

“We were saddened to learn of the death of this community member and our hearts go out to their family and loved ones during this difficult time,” said Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Susan Turner.

No further information or details will be released about the person who died, officials said.

Kitsap Public Health District has confirmed 111 COVID-19 cases. Updated total and negative testing numbers were not yet available as of 2 p.m. As of Sunday, 1,944 tests had been conducted with 1,840 negative results.

Of the 111 cases in Kitsap, 29 are in Bremerton, 27 are in South Kitsap, 24 are in North Kitsap, 21 are in Central Kitsap and 10 are on Bainbridge Island.

The age breakdown for confirmed infections is as follows:

0-19: 5 (5 percent)

20-29: 15 (14 percent)

30-39: 11 (10 percent)

40-49: 23 (21 percent)

50-59: 27 (24 percent)

60-69: 15 (14 percent)

70-79: 11 (10 percent)

80+: 4 (4 percent)
