Two Kitsap 911 employees were singled out for special recognition this year, winning Public Safety Communications Awards and Technology Leadership Awards from the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International, which recently announced its winner in a press release.

The two workers, Jason Meeder and Randy Dasho, will be recognized during the Opening General Session at the APCO’s 2020 conference and expo, which takes place Aug. 2 to 5 in Orlando, Fla.

Kitsap 911 was one of just two centers to win multiple awards from the APCO this year, which are given to those who demonstrate high levels of professional conduct and performance in the line of duty.

“Congratulations to this year’s winners for the tireless and lifesaving work they do,” said Tracey M. Hilburn, President of APCO International. “And thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s program; without our nominators, we would not have the opportunity to highlight these inspiring individuals.”

Meeder, a Kitsap 911 worker since 2001, was named Line Supervisor of the Year.

“Jason Meeder is respected by his peers, subordinates, management, and member agencies due to the exceptional skills he displays,” Kitsap 911 Director Richard A. Kirton said. “He looks at issues from multiple perspectives before making a balanced decision. Jason is invested in the development of employees at every level of our organization, providing mentorship, direction and resources.”

Dasho, who has been with Kitsap 911 since 2015, was awarded Trainer of the Year.

“Randy Dasho is a perfect example of what type of Telecommunications Trainer we need in our industry,” Kirton said. “He is self-driven to develop his skills and learn more about delivering solid training to new hires. He radiates an attitude of ‘team player.’”
