POULSBO — The mayor and city council will meet Wednesday night to discuss the latest on the Poulsbo Events and Recreation Center (PERC) and a COVID-19 response business recovery plan.

The council is considering an agreement with Everett-based Perteet Inc. in order to assess the feasibility of a 30,000 to 40,000 square-foot public events and recreation center near the Olympic College and Western Washington University campus at the city’s College Market Place.

In December, the city initiated an interlocal agreement with the Kitsap Public Facilities District (KPFD) for the regional events center. Earlier in 2020, the city put out a Request for Qualifications and a selection committee was formed to review the responses and interview three firms. Perteet Inc. was selected unanimously.

KPFD will reimburse the city for the cost of the $82,823 contract.

The center will include an event space, indoor recreation facilities and up to four acres of synthetic turf fields.

Perteet Inc. will take on several initiatives, including outreach to the community, market analysis for demand, and management of the assessment of site conditions and development of a conceptual site plan.

Also on Wednesday evening, Mayor Becky Erickson will present the city’s response to safely reopen businesses, which include providing businesses with more space, a proposal to develop additional bicycle lanes/shared use areas for walking and general prevention guidelines.

The plan was set to be discussed at the Business Recovery Task Force meeting Tuesday and then distributed to city council members.
