Limited supply of PPE for local businesses

Port Orchard Chamber distributing supplies to designated city businesses

PORT ORCHARD — The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) to local city businesses from Kitsap County and the City of Port Orchard.

The chamber said in a July 6 news release that a limited supply of PPE is available for businesses within the Port Orchard city limits. The city has provided a small number of disposable masks for those businesses required to have them in order to operate. A limited number of bottles of hand sanitizer provided by the city also are available.

The county has received 250 no-contact infrared thermometers from the state’s first shipment of 4,000 units to be used by designated businesses. The chamber said the thermometers are free to businesses in the following fields: construction companies, for use on the job site; mental health services; restaurants; manufacturing; retail; agriculture; and grocers/convenience stores.

The first 250 Kitsap businesses meeting that criteria will receive one thermometer per business (not per location).

According to the chamber, a supply of reusable cloth masks have been made available by Stafford Healthcare and Stafford Ridgemont Senior Apartments. The cloth masks can be washed up to 14 times, the chamber said.

Those businesses in need of PPE in order to open or remain open as a result of the government’s phased opening plan are asked to contact the chamber office at kitsapcovid19@gmail.com.
