Over the weekend, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed two COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the countywide total of virus-related fatalities to nine.

Both community members who died were described by the health district as “older adults with underlying health conditions.”

On Monday, the district reported six new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total of positive cases to 942 since March.

A total of 77 cases are considered “active” by the district, meaning they are “confirmed and probable COVID cases … participating in daily monitoring.” Another 247 were categorized as “active contacts” or individuals determined to be close contacts of a lab-confirmed case and are participating in daily monitoring.

A total of nine people in Kitsap County have had COVID-19 associated deaths, six of whom have been confirmed since late July, according to the health district. The district is currently not reporting total negative tests or the percent of positive tests due to technical difficulties from the state Department of Health.

In July, 422 infections were confirmed by the health district -more that month than all the other months combined. So far in August, 244 cases have been confirmed.

Of the 942 total cases, 26 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 299 in Bremerton, 230 in Central Kitsap, 162 in North Kitsap and 225 in South Kitsap.

0 – 9: 62 (5%)

60 – 69: 66 (7%)

70 – 79: 93 (7%)

80 and older: 37 (1%)
