On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed 11 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total of positive cases to 1,020 since March.

A total of 63 cases are considered “active” by the district, meaning they are “confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases … participating in daily monitoring.” Another 186 were categorized as “active contacts” or individuals determined to be close contacts of a lab-confirmed case and are participating in daily monitoring.

A total of 10 COVID-19 related deaths have been confirmed in the county by the health district with seven of them confirmed since late July. The total number of negative tests is 29,966.

There also was an update in the numbers of COVID cases in the outbreak at St. Michael Medical Center in Bremerton. There are now 63 total cases, with 42 being staff and 21 patients.

In July, 422 infections were confirmed by the health district -more that month than any other single month since the pandemic began. In August, 311 cases were confirmed.

Of the 1,020 total cases, 31 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 323 in Bremerton, 253 in Central Kitsap, 167 in North Kitsap and 246 in South Kitsap.

The breakdown for confirmed positive cases per 100,000 residents in each age category in the past 30 days is as follows:

0 – 9: 59 (6 percent)

10 – 19: 57 (5 percent)

20 – 29: 210 (24 percent)

30 – 39: 147 (13 percent)

40 – 49: 199 (19 percent)

50 – 59: 117 (13 percent)

60 – 69: 73 (9 percent)

70 – 79: 93 (8 percent)

80 and older: 44 (2 percent)
