South Kitsap School District is seeking public input about potential changes to school boundaries and grade configuration as a means of addressing enrollment imbalance at the elementary level.

According to SKSD, some of the elementary schools are over capacity and others are under capacity, and if left unattended, this imbalance will continue to grow.

SKSD announced that two public forums are scheduled at 6 p.m. March 18 (Cedar Heights Junior High) and March 19 (John Sedgwick Junior High) for community members to attend and learn about different boundary scenarios — the result of extensive study by the Boundary Review Committee, a group comprised of parent representatives and staff members that has met numerous times over the past few months.

The Boundary Review Committee has extensively studied information about school building capacity, grade configuration, instructional program placement and enrollment projections and reached consensus on two different scenarios.
